On Learning Communities
The research team sees the development of learning communities as of critical importance. At each site, these communities, based in a school or group of schools, sharing a vision of school learning and teaching, establish for themselves goals as well as instruments to acquire and share the knowledge required for the achievement of their goals. In such a context, a larger and more and more differentiated group of learners interact for learning purposes (the entire school staff, the parents, the students, etc.), and effective organizational mechanisms must be found. Network-enabled, each community of learners is capable, to the largest extent possible, to handle its own learning needs and to build its capacity to adapt and grow.
